Update

I cannot say that I'm back yet because I don't know.

My love for blogging is gone :(

True but sad.

However, good news is I start a new job tomorrow :) Yes, after 7 years, I finally am moving on!

2012 will be my year...finally!!!!

I am going to take better care of myself and look better....that way I could feel better :)

Latest pic of me, taken last night, before heading out to a childhood friend's wedding

Yes, I got a haircut :D

PS - I'm always rambling on Twitter, follow me there if you want - https://twitter.com/#!/ApunBindaas

Hello Blogworld

I am here, just never updated.

I have nothing exciting going on with life.

However, I have been very stressed out in the past few month. $$$$

It's all about the Benjamin's. Seriously.

If Love makes the world go round, I would be so much richer and not have to stress about $$$

Right now, I am working two jobs again. Oh well, gotta do what I gotta do.

No time for movies, only on weekends.

I still try to update my Facebook with photos but not much since then. Maybe I should move those pics on here?

My hair is growing much longer. I haven't had a haircut in over a year. I'm too broke to go to my hair stylist. I refuse to go to those cheap chains because I've gotten my hair chopped off too short or hair stuck in blowdryer before. Seriously. Plus I like complicated layers and styles that an average Jane Joe cannot work on.

Other than all that, I have a boring life, will try better to update

Recent pic of me!

Just took this pic this morning....trying to grow out my hair!

See the no makeup pic? I only have lip gloss, hate chapped lips.
Again, hair is not dyed, just look like it from all the hot hairstylings

What is Happiness?

That question comes up a lot. Especially for me. Everyone defines happiness differently. Whether or not, you may seem to agree. Some people get happiness just by making others smile. While others want more materialistic things to be happy.

For me, happiness is being carefree. With all that, I want to be stressfree with money. I love everything about my life, except for the financial situations. (Oh yeah, my weight too but that's another issue at another time)

I need to do some soul searching about my career path and goals. Right now, I haaaaate my current full time job. I used to not hate it. I was just content. Right now, I'm not even content. I don't see myself working here in the future because there is no room for advancement. I felt like that earlier this year.

By summer time, I wanted to take advantage of their education tuition reimbursement, only to my shockness, that they will no longer offer that. I was upset. I've been with the company for 7 years, 3 out of those 7 years, I've gotten a raise (so yes, do the math, half of the years, I've been here, no raise), believe me, the raise is less than 2%. I was one of the ones who got a raise this year, but guess what...at 1%, forget it.

I know, I should be just be fortunate to have a job. But I don't have to settle for less, you know. Especially if I'm not happy. I've talked to some of my friends who have gotten raises and are happy. After much thought and consideration, it is the industry of the company that you work in.

Not only that, I don't understand why my managers let my co-workers sly with coming to work late every day, taking smoke breaks every hour, calling in sick, etc. I know I could do the same thing but my work ethics and morals are not the same. I believe I don't have to stoop to their levels.

Because of that reason, I need to re-think about my life, what I want. Right now, I am doing three people's jobs because either they got laid off or quit. I think it's unfair. I know life is unfair...but it's up to me to change my fate/destiny, right?

Right now, I am hoping to find a better job, just so I won't have to come to work every day, hating it. The moral of my life has gotten down.

Career-wise and financially...I want to feel better...happier...stress-free.

I know the economy isn't at its best shape now, bills are stacking up high. I know but I have to stay strong for my family and me.

Stupid racist comments about Japan taking USA in Women World Cup

Now, don't get me wrong. I love America. I'm Asian by ethnicity but American by nationality. Stolen from AngryAsianMan

Victor Kim

All I have to say is I'm very impress how my one post of Victor Kim is the most viewed on my personal blog! I just posted it less than a month ago!!!!!

Wow!!!!!!

I am very impress. I know I don't post links to my personal blog much and I have 4 blogs in all - Indian cinema blog, Asian cinema blog, Hmong blog, and this one - my personal blog.

In general, movies is my passion...along with music. With that, I love to watch dancing.

Besides his dancing (ahem I love Quest Crew and ABDC), Victor really attracts me with his personality on his YouTube channel and personal blog. The man can sing and play instruments. Gotta love him.

Here are just a few more photos of him that I love.

Tidbits of July holidays

I thought this was so cute and  had to share it here. Got it from an email forward at work.

A National Day is the date on which a nation of non-sovereign country celebrates their nationhood. July has the most days (17) designated as a National Day with August (16) a very close second.

July 1 – 30th National Days – Canada, United States, Venezuela, Nepal, Solomon Islands, Argentina, Mongolia, Kiribati, France, Iraq, Colombia, Belgium, Arab Republic of Egypt, Maldives, Peru, Morocco, Vanuatu.

July 1st is Canada Day (Dominion Day) - Canada Day is a celebration of Canadian nationalism, heritage and pride. Canada became self-governing of July 1st, 1867, with the passage of the British North America Act in the British Parliament. The holiday was originally known as “Dominion Day”. It was changed to Canada Day by the Canadian Parliament of October 27th 1982.

July 4th is the United States of America Independence Day, and the birthday of our nation. On this day, we celebrate and enjoy the freedom that comes with the event that made this day so special. Thomas Jefferson is the author of the Declaration of Independence. He led a committee that crafted the declaration between June 11 – 28, 1776. Jefferson and other discontented representatives from the thirteen colonies voted and approved it on July 4th, 1776. The document declared freedom for the 13 colonies from British rule. The Declaration of independence was not signed by all representatives until August, 1776. To make it official, John Hancock, President of the Continental Congress signed it. Now, can anyone guess where the saying “put your John Hancock on it” came from!?!

Did you know… The U.S. and Canada share the largest un-defended border in the world?

July 26th the Americans with Disabilities Act Signed in the US. This day celebrates the 1990 signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which provides for reasonable accommodation in work situations and standards for physical accessibility to buildings and public transportation. The act was amended in 2008 in favor of broad coverage of individuals.

July 30th is the United Nation (UN) International Day of Friendship. During the sixty-fifth session of the General Assembly of the United Nation, 30 July was unanimous designated as International Day of Friendship, following a petition of several countries in the context of the UN Culture of Peace Agenda. The target of this day is to promote the international understanding, the respect for diversity and a culture of peace, between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals.

Some fun stuff you may not have known about July:

There are 20 days dedicated to food, also a Parents Day, Father-in-Law Day, Cousins Day, Mutt’s day and Cow Appreciation Day. Every day in the month is designated as a “DAY” except for the 16th.

The Month of July is National Blueberry month, Anti-Boredom month, Cell Phone Courtesy month, Hot Dog month and last but not least National Ice Cream Month!

Butterfly Award

The lovely Nkauj Hmoob Chubby nominated me for this award, which is so sweet cause I hardly post much on here like I used to :(

However, I will send a shout out to her cause I think it's cool. At least, I know someone is still reading my Random Thoughts and Rants! :D

She is too sweet because her blog is awesome filled with lots of photos, not just photos you find on the net, but photos she actually took. I love her love and inspiration of makeup and photography. Plus she's also a Hmong chick like me :D

So the rules for this award is as follows:

Link it back to the one who sent it to you and then pass it on to 7 people.
PS - I'm not going to pass on to 7 people because I don't know who follows my blog but Nkauj Hmoob Chubby

Also, I have to write 15 random things about myself.
PS - I've written random stuff bout me but will try not to repeat it
I have many intros of myself, depending on which blog, check out my Indian Cinema blog and Hmong blog to get a different intro.
Or other posts I've done here...

Words for Women to Live By

Got this in an email so wanted to share it on Blogsphere.

1. Aspire to be Barbie - the bitch has everything.

2. If the shoe fits - buy them in every color.

3. Take life with a pinch of salt... A wedge of lime, and a shot of tequila.

4. In need of a support group? - Cocktail hour with the girls!

5. Go on the 30 day diet. (I'm on it and so far I've lost 15 days).

6. When life gets you down - just put on your big girl panties and deal with it

7. Let your greatest fear be that there is no PMS and this is just your personality.

8. I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok. They know me here.

9 Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself.

10. Don't get your knickers in a knot; it solves nothing and makes you walk funny.

11. When life gives you lemons - buy some Coronas.

12. Forget about the perfect man - he's living in San Fran with his boyfriend.

13. Keep your chin up, only the first 40 years of parenthood are the hardest.

14. If it has tires or testicles it's gonna give you trouble.

15. By the time a woman realizes her mother was right, she has a daughter who thinks she's wrong.

'Good friends are like stars... You don't always see them, but you know they are always there'
'Remember yesterday, dream about tomorrow, but live for today'. Now smile and send to any girl wasting time at work, suffering from a hangover, or just suffering from life , they might need a reason to smile!

NKOTBSB

I got a chance to see NKOTBSB last night! Definitely was one of a lifetime experience. It was such an awesome show!

I've been talking about it since last year but with low funds, I never bought a ticket.

Tuesday night, one of my girl friends called to see if I wanted to go with her. Heck yeah!!!!! It was a gift so I obviously couldn't say no ;P

Our seats were okay but I cannot complain about a gift, I really didn't care, I experienced it! My ears are still rining right now, hehehe.

Ashlyne Duff and Jordin Sparks opened up for NKOTBSB.

Aaawwww!!!!!!

I did it!

I turned in my two-weeks notice in at my part time job last Friday. I cannot wait to finally leave. I freaking haaaaate retail. I will never do that again. Customers are rude. Managers expect too much.

If I find another part time job that is reasonable, I will take it.

Honestly, I thought that working retail would be fun and brainless but the expectations are too high. Come on, I am a part-timer. I took the initiative to learn the products...and even in another department. I am the highest "sales" person in rank...but just cause I cannot get customers to open up credit cards, my overall rank is low. I refuse to harass customers to open up credit cards. No is a no. I ask two main questions - "do you have a xxx card?" "would you like to have one? you could save xxx money today." That's it.

Quest Crew: Victor Kim

It is no secret that I am in love with Quest Crew. They are the best dance crew. Ever. Period.
I found an old post where I confessed I had a dream of them two years ago, lol

I have been really obsess with them (again) lately. Blame it on their recent appearance on ABDC 6 finale cause they are just that good. I loved them so much with D-Trix but even without him, they are still the best. Every member compliments each other. They always let each one shine.

But even though I've been obsess and watching Quest Crew on YouTube and following them on Twitter....I've been really crushing hard on Victor Kim lately.

I love his personality, his dancing, his musical talent, singing, you name it. I read his blog. I follow him on Twitter. I subscribe to his YouTube channel. I've been searching for his photos recently too. Boy. Oh Boy.
There's just something about Victor Kim.
The funny part is I'm a Kim too! But that's through marriage :) but my hubby is not Korean, but Khmer, hehe.

Here are some of my favorite photos of Victor Kim. The man is just so sexy and talented. It's sad that I've been thinking how my life would've been if my parents never moved to Atlanta and stayed in Los Angeles, hehe. I know, I was only four when my parents moved to Atlanta. I would've had a chance to meet Victor and the Quest Crew members :D

Ha Roo Baghn: Korean bakery

Father's Day is this Sunday but I celebrated it last week with my parents. This weekend is my baby brother's second part to his Hmong wedding so I knew they would be busy, especially since my dad's youngest brother, Uncle Yeng, is flying from WI to GA for the event.

Since both of my parents love fruits and aren't a big fan of sweet cakes and prefer Asian cakes, which are more spongier. I went ahead with a strawberry style Korean cake. I forgot the name of the cake.

Went to my favorite Korean bakery, Ha Roo Baghn

Yummy :)

Food: Chocolate Chip cookies

The other night, I realized I still have a few sticks of Land of Lake butter left. I only use Land of Lake for all my desserts if making it at home.

I realized I haven't made homemade cookies from scratch in a while so decided to do it today.

The green choco chip is made with pandan paste to give it a unique look and taste :D

Food: Shrimp Larb

Made shrimp larb the other day but didn't take pics. This pic was taken a month ago when I had a get together at the house with my sister and brother's girl friend.

I love eating shrimp but hate the de-veining and un-shelling part :D

Updates in life....

Over the weekend, my baby brother's wedding celebration! It's quite complicated with the wedding dates for him because his girl friend lives in NC while we live here in GA. Plus she's a school teacher so she has to get back to teaching after the weekend. Her family's religion is Shaman while ours is Christian.

My parents had a wedding celebration on Saturday, May 28th. I did the crappy invitation, kinda last minute. My parents wanted it written in Hmong. I stratched out the address and phone numbers.

Click on image to view larger

The Hmong is going to be on June 18th. Then their American wedding is August 20th!

I have been working a second job since March. I was excited at first...but now after a few months into it, I hate it. It's cause it's retail. I've worked two jobs before but not retail. I just hate all the sales quota and trying to get customers to open up credit cards. My boss specifically told me that I was NOT a cashier.

I hate my uneven eyelids!

That's one reason why I'm so impatient to put makeup on and give up easily...see...

Dreams

For the past year, I've had dreamless nights. Last night, I had a weird dream. It was not a nightmare or anything but it was just plain W-E-I-R-D!

It was almost like watching a Korean horror. It was watching my life in a movie.

Right now, it is clear in my mind. I want to write it down in case, I want to refer back to it cause I'm sure by tomorrow, I would have forgotten the details.

You know how dreams are, it's like the Hollywood movie, Inception, you're in one place and then all of a sudden, you're somewhere else, even though you only slept 10 mins, it felt like an hour!

What I could remember is me, myself, as a grownup, I am at a friend's house (funny thing is I don't remember this friend, who that person is or anything, but obviously, she knows me) and she showed me a picture of me when I was younger. I was probably 2 or 3, no more than 4. In the picture, I am next to a boy around my age. We both are sitting down on stools.

When you look closer, it's in the kitchen area, the background reminds you of that Korean movie, A Tale of Two Sisters, the kitchen area, with its 70s interior look. Picture was bluish-black tinted look.

The boy and I are both adorable. I had that typical Asian little girl haircut back then (and in the picture/dream), bob cut with thick, blunt bangs. I was wearing a skirt and was barefoot. What made the picure more intruging is I had black marks on my ankles and feet! They aren't bruises or sharpie marks...but when you do look closer, they almost look like oil or sticky substance.

Next I take a flashback with trying to remember what happened at that age. This part makes it scary for me...because in reality, I really don't remember what happened to me when I was younger.

TRUE STORY - before I get back to the dream.
When I was in Kindergarten, my parents moved to a new house, which was located on a busy street across a cemetary. At that time, I didn't know it was a cemetary. I was used to cemetaries having white tombstones, this cemetary only had bouquet of flowers everywhere.
Vaguely, I remember a time when I was running from a stranger and starting banging on the door and broke the glass. I don't know if that's true or not what really happened. What I do know is that I did break the glass window on the door. We lived in that house from Kindergarten to the middle of my 3rd grade. I used to hear noises at night. I used to have spirts on top of me (at that time, I didn't know what it was....)

BACK to dream

Dream takes me back in flashbacks. It's like I'm almost hypnotize. I am an adult watching my childhood again during that time in the photo.

I see this woman who was suppose to take me to church camp (I know, it's strange cause I was too young to know anything and taken for that long, actually I never knew how long it took). The woman in the flashback, I actually know in real life. She is the wife of a pastor. The boy in the flashback is her son. He is also around my age! (this is real life, yes)

Of course, dreams are weird and jumps around.

You see my mom crying and holding me cause she was telling the woman that she refuses to let her take me to any church camp in the future anymore cause of what happened last time. The woman tells my mom that she promises it won't happen again.

Flashback again - I'm playing in the garden or was it a field? All I know is that I was playing near a bush, I had a white Sunday dress on, some bugs started biting me and I was crying. Next thing I know, I am in the kitchen floor,  crying. It looks like a black plague growing from my feet going up to my legs. The woman is in the other room, holding her son, ignoring me, she hears me but doesn't care. The little me just cried myself to sleep and am on the floor.

Back to my mom crying and holding me like an infant.

That was it. It was weird and a bit creepy. Mainly cause I know this woman and her son. I've never really liked or disliked her. She was always there.

And then there's the fact that when I was younger, I used to be scared to sleep cause I would have that spirit on top of me.

I know, weird. I just wanted to share it.

Day 23 - Something you crave for a lot

30 Day Blog/Photo Challenge: Day 23

Crave means food....

I don't know what I've been craving for a lot lately. I used to crave a lot for papaya salad, grill cheese, Kapoon, and even banh mi sandwiches but...now? Not sure.

Maybe cause those dishes, I've learn to make.

So the dishes that I haven't mastered are any Indian food! Okay, I did make aloo varda/bonda.

Because of that reason, I've been craving Indian food...particularly tandoori chicken and naan. I cannot eat the meat plain, I have to have it with naan :D
