Hinduism

Over the past few years, I've been very curious about Hinduism. I didn't know much except that it's one of the main religions in India. As much as I love India, I didn't know much about the religion.

The last few weeks, I've been reading and researching about Hinduism. I don't understand and often get confused with the many different gods.

After visiting the Hindu temple again, I just had to learn more about Hinduism. It is a beautiful and peaceful religion.

Most Hmong people are Shamans. Many Hmong-Americans are now Christians because of the missionaries bringing a lot of Hmong families to the USA. Many Hmong people got clearance to come to the USA because they helped the USA in the "Secret War" during the Vietnam War.

I grew up as a South Baptist and have been going to church since I could remember. However, all that changed.

It was because of marriage. My hubby did grow up as a Christian too but overtime, his family just let it be. His mother still practices Buddhism. He just got confused and practice nothing.

But for me, I still have this inner-spirtual need for something. I'm still soul-searching. He doesn't mind that I do all this. He just ask if I don't involve him, which I can understand.

The more I learn about Hinduism, the more I gear towards that direction.

Yah!!!!!!!!!!! I just won tickets to see Jay Sean!!!

I've been on cloud 9 for the past hour!!!!!!!

Yes, I've met him before...but now it's different...

Soooo excited.

Will blog more about it when I get the tickets. Can't wait.

Actually will blog about it on my Indian cinema blog since I posted a dream I had of Jay Sean.

Why?

I hate this question....

Okay, don't get me wrong.

It only applies when I ask someone something, they answer then ask, "why?" right away.

For example, I would ask, "what are you doing Saturday?"

Then the response is, "Nothing, why?"

Okay, no big deal?

It really isn't but I *am* going to tell you why...you don't need to ask.

Guess it mainly bothers me because I'm *not* the type who ask why right away. I will let it be up to the person to tell me. If no reason is given, I just let it be.

I'm Hmong

I have no shame in admitting I'm Hmong.

Some Hmong people even claim to be Lao or Thai just to avoid educating others what Hmong is. 95% of the time, the average person do *not* know what the heck a Hmong person is.

I like being different. I don't mind educating others.

What is bugging me about Hmong people, in general, is their ignorance.

When I asked the Hmong community to help reach out to the Hmong refugees who were in jail in Thailand just because they were Hmong, many of them did not want to help out.

Or they claim they would help out if I tell them what to do. I did tell them, they just didn't want to help out.

Many Hmong Americans expect the US government to help out Hmong people in Laos and/or Thailand who are struggling.

To me, it starts at home. You can *not* rely on others to help out.

I completely understand if you are unable to help out. You cannot help out everyone. What is bothering me is the ones who complain but do nothing about it.

Blood is *not* thicker than water

People who say blood is thicker than water grew up in a home that was very close.

For me, and even my hubby, it's not like that. We can *not* rely on our family members.

Maybe that's how we found each other. We rather be with each other with our kids. Overall, our family members disappoint us.

When there are get togethers for "family" events, it seems forced or fake. There are no depth emotions, just something that we *must* and *have* to do.

This Thanksgiving, I'm just thankful to have found my soulmate, my hubby, and is blessed to have two wonderful children with him.

I'm famous...well, not really

It's no secret that I love Indian movies. Anything from Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Telugu, to Bengali. I hope to be able to watch Malayalam films in the future and have watched one Kannada film.

India is a country with multiple languages and enrich with a colorful culture.

My interview/article has been featured on Webneetech for my blog that has the most views, and the reason why I started blogging again.

You are your worse critic

It's funny how anyone else besides YOU would tell YOU that you look good in a certain pic.

But you disagree thinking that you look awful.

You do the same thing. Tell that person that they look great in that pic, but that person disagrees.

You are your worse critic.

I notice things about pictures of myself that no one else does.

Sometimes I keep it to myself so they won't notice it, lol.

Of course, you have others who think they are so fine no matter what, lol

Good angles = good pics

I believe this is true.

Also, good photoshopping, makeup, clothes, you name it.

That's why those girls on ANTM look really good. Without all the disguise, they look like the girl-next-door.

However, I wish someone could work on me. I need the disguise.

Georgia Hmong New Years 2009-2010

I posted these pics on my Indian Cinema blog. The rest of the pics are on Facebook

This past weekend was the Hmong New Years. My parents are in charge of the annual event. My dad says he is going to retire from chairman but will continue to help out with planning.

In the past, I usually attend the Hmong New Years just to play volleyball. However, I'm getting older and need to chill and relax. I promised my hubby I wouldn't play competitively anymore (so that means the New Years too, the injuries lately!). Besides, I could focus more on the other activities at the New Years.

Because I usually miss out the early events, I was able to see the annual ribbon cutting.

My friend's cousins dancing.

Random pics of food vendor. What usually is sold at the New Years is a plate of purple sticky rice with either chicken, fish, ribs, or sausage. You could also buy papaya salad, bubble tea, pho, rice rolls, egg rolls, sesame balls, and more!

Yummy fruits.

Movie vendor.

Let's take a closer look. You see Bollywood? Well, there were more but just took a pic of one. There are more Korean dvds to choose from though. To be fair, I only took a pic of this vendor. A lot of Bollywood films are dubbed in Hmong, but not the one below. The ones that are dub will actually have Hmong titles.

Yep, we, Hmong people, love some Bollywood. And Korean. And Thai. And Hong Kong. We just love movies, in general.

Un-motivated

Yes, I made the eggrolls for my co-workers. Never will I do that again! I prepped around 9:30 am and continued to cook it until 2 pm. Gosh, what a long day.

I just don't feel like doing anything anymore. I don't know why I'm feeling this way.

Hmong New Years is the same every year. Yes, it is. But what is good about it is seeing everyone again :)

I don't like the photos of myself lately. I don't know how to put on makeup, I'm gaining weight on my face but the clothes feel fine, urgh. Old age, I think.

I'm too nice

Since last week was Diversity Week at work, for those who work on my floor who helped contribute towards the costs of drinks, I am going out of my way to make them eggrolls.

I don't have to do so but I am going to show them I really appreciate their efforts.

I'm off this Friday from work but I am coming and bringing them the food. I want to make sure the eggrolls are fresh and warm by the time I come in.

For those who didn't contribute, they are getting nothing.

I am individually wrapping three eggrolls for each person. And for those who contributed more and helped me out that day, they are getting more eggrolls.

This is just my way of saying THANK YOU.

Special shoutout to DIANE

Not only is Diane a beautiful person inside and out, she is the first person, to send me a letter to the Hmong refugees.

I hope she won't be the last either.

On top of it, she written it in Hmong.

Check out her blog, a helpful guide for beauty

http://diane-yi.blogspot.com/

I really appreciate her for doing this.

She didn't have to write it all in Hmong because I do have some help in translating the letter into Hmong. Plus Yvonne has told me that a few of the Hmong refugees are able to read in English because they went to school in Bangkok.

Thank you Diane!

Georgia Hmong New Years

Next weekend! November 14 - 15th.

Last night, my mom wanted me to make a flyer for the party event. I know, so last minute. The flyer is going to be crappy-looking though. Oh well.

Annoyed, sad...

Read this

http://nickihawj.blogspot.com/2009/11/hmong-people-need-to-come-together.html

Posted on blogger, Facebook, Twitter, word of mouth, etc.

I'm a bit disappointed.

I hope I will be proven wrong soon.

Hmong people talk so much crap about how un-Hmong I am because my hubby is *not* Hmong but I think most people who are trying to help out the Hmong people are non-Hmong.

Instead Hmong people are on PebHmong, MySpace, and Facebook updating with stupid stuff. Psssh, whatever.

Diversity week at work

This week is Diversity week at work.

I dressed up in my Hmong outfit, had to represent!

But no pics. I was sooooo freaking busy serving that I couldn't.

On top of that, too many greedy folks, I didn't even get to eat and try out the dishes.

All the food was already gone.

I swear, greedy folks.

Not many people dressed up, besides me, only 4 females who wore their Indian sarees and a guy who wore his Scottish outfit.

There were a lot of people who brought dessert.

I made Thai Tea.

Short rant post.

Different modern Hmong outfits

My blood cousin Liz, from my mother's side, is really photogenic and loves taking pics. I love her Hmong outfits. I wish I was able to get access to more modern Hmong outfits. She says that she has been just collecting them from all the Hmong New Year events and tourneys from California, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. She lives in Wisconsin. I've been wanting outfits like hers. I even told my mom about it! Maybe she'll make me one soon, hahaha. Liz said it was okay for me to post her pics online

Review - Avani Nail Kit

Last night I went to Sam's Club. The Avani team went around to the consumers to demostrate their products. Now, I usually am *not* a sucker and buy products. However, this time, I bought the item. I really like it.

I don't take care of my hands very well. I don't put on nail polish. Sometimes my cuticles are so ugly. With this product, my nails look shiny, polished, and natural. With that demostration, why not buy it? The salesman was selling it to me for only $18 and it is originally $50.

Took it to work this morning and just used it. I really like how my hands, fingernails, cuticles, all that looks and feels.

I did buy the whole kit.

You can check out the rest of their products here

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir - 11/01/2009

It's not the first time I've been to the Baps Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, I blogged about it before when I met up with blogger buddy, Ajnabi.

It's sooo beautiful!!! This time, my friends and I were able to view the temple even closer. There were so much detail in each sculpture.

We decided to stay for the puja services. Very interesting. However, no photography allowed :( It was very strict that my friend and daughter had to take out their gum.

Halloween - 10/31/2009

This year, Halloween has been very disappointing, mainly due to the rain. In addition, in the malls, they were giving out candy at a later time. It used to be all day. Oh well.

Took the kids to trick or treat. They got a lot of candies and were very satisfied!

Minnehaha Falls - 10/25/2009

This past Sunday, took the kids to Minnehaha Falls in Tallulah, GA. Don't get it confused with the famous waterfalls in MN.

It is the most beautiful waterfall, to me. Trust me, I've seen plenty.

Do you see my son?

Washington Farms - 10/24/2009

This past Saturday, Ze & I took the kids to the Pumpkin Batch, Petty Zoo, & Corn Maze @ Washington Farms in Athens, GA. They had fun!!

Oh, what a feeling!!

I put on my jeans this morning. It's been several months since I worn this particular jean.

Besides the jeans feeling loose, I found $10 bill in the pocket.

Yah, made my day
