What I want

Just random thoughts for today

I really want the Skechers Shape Ups. However, I don't want to spend $110 for them

Craving for Viet sandwiches. But on a "diet."

Excited for Miami! Can not wait.

52 Years of Math 1957 - 2009

I got this from a friend in an e-mail forward, just wanted to post here, hehehe

Last week I purchased a burger at Burger King for $1.58. The counter girl took my $2 and I was digging for my change when I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her.

She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies, while looking at the screen on her register. I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give
me two quarters , but she hailed the manager for help.

While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried.

Why do I tell you this?

Because of the evolution in teaching math since the 1950s:

1. Teaching Math In 1950s

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit ?

2. Teaching Math In 1960s

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit?

3. Teaching Math In 1970s

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80. Did he make a profit?
4. Teaching Math In 1980s

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20.

5. Teaching Math In 1990s

A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living?

Topic for class participation after answering the question:
How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong answers, and if you feel like crying, it's ok.)

6. Teaching Math In 2009

Un hachero vende una carretada de maderapara $100. El costo de la producciones es $80 Cuanto dinero ha hecho?

Weather

This year, the weather has been so weird.

Snowed in March.

Rained a lot in April already.

Last night it hailed.

Today it's beautiful.

But so will this weekend!

Amazing!

Just glad the weekend is going to be nice.

Going to be busy all day Saturday. One of my childhood friends is having a birthday party for her son at the park. It's going to be at one of the newer parks in Gwinnett county.

Besides that in the evening, I plan to take my daughter walking with me in the morning. We've been doing 3 - 5 miles on Saturday's since February. I've encouraged her to do something active because she is very lazy. Plus once she hits middle school, I don't want her to be the "chubby" kid anymore.

Also have a dentist appointment on Saturday, along with the kids. I hate taking them out of school to go to the dentist so I've been going to a dentist that opens on Saturday's. Much, much better!!

Sunday, I really have no plans but wanted hubby go to kayaking. He loves fishing. He has to take my van so I'll be at home doing nothing. But I do have to study and maybe watch and review a Telugu movie.

Accounts for everything

Yes, I am bored.

Am I back to blogging or just bored?

But I sign up for everything....

I have accounts for...

Blogger
MySpace
FaceBook
Twitter
Orkut
Friendster
Hi5
Xanga
Asian Avenue
Yahoo Groups

Whatever.....

Probably more but don't remember right now.

I guess what ever is happening and hot...new, whatever.

However, I do log on Blogger, MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter daily. The rest, well, there were accounts.

Sometimes I forget that I create an account when I get an email and check - it's because I had an IM from someone from those accounts.

I didn' t remember who she was but it dawned on my later.

Dang, me with so many accounts.

On another note, I was sooo happy to re-connect with so many people from the past from FaceBook.

I like FaceBook for that reason. However, these are people who knew me back then. They don't know me now. Or they are people who I have recently connected due to the Interent.

Then there is MySpace which I have so many reality celebs on there that I follow. Even high profile celebs. Plus a lot of Asians use it. Most of them have converted from Asian Avenue to Xanga to MySpace. Bunch of my family members from all over the country uses MySpace.

Finally Twitter. The biggest craze. Nothing to really interact with others - just a sentence letting everyone know how you are doing. Kinda of what FaceBook has been doing. Then MySpace copying all of what FaceBook is doing.

Dreaming of Quest Crew

I love those guys but I can not believe I had a dream of them. Nothing romantic or anything.

I'm so in love with their energetic, unique b-boy dancing style. Although I can not dance and have two-left feet, I enjoy watching all types of dances.

In the dream, it was just me winning a chance for them to come to my house (it wasn't my house in the dream, it was a reallllly nice house!!). They would dance at my house to be shown on MTV.
Kinda funny now that I think about it.

I think it's mainly cause I follow them too much, hahaha.

Post office update

This is in response to this post.

Alright so the post office was suppose to re-deliver my package.

Guess what?

They never did.

So I called them around 3:30 pm.

And the package was there.

I was pissed so I went to pick up package and gave them my pink slip.

They asked for ID. WTH?? I gave you the pick slip.

Showed them my employee ID. They tripped.

I gave them a piece of my mind. So I told them that I wouldn't have that problem if the delivery guy went to the receptionist in the first place and got someone to sign. Plus he was suppose to re-deliver. Now, I have to leave work early to pick up my package.

Nothing was said. I signed and left.

I hate the USPS delivery confirmation.

Post office

Okay, fine. Inflation everywhere.

Even the price of stamps. Whatever.

That's why I pay my bills online.

But my rant for today is that I had a package that was to be delievered at work. It has to be signed by someone. Therefore, I wanted it to be delievered here.

Instead, the USPS postal servicer worker went to the mail room. No one was there. The guy was away from his desk, probably delivering packages in the building.

So the USPS guy left a pink slip.

The mail room guy gave me the pink slip.

I was disappointed.

WTH? Why couldn't the USPS guy go to the receptionist to have someone sign for the package?

My problem is I am not able to pick up the package cause the USPS guy is still out there delivering packages.

Plus today is Friday. I can not pick up the package tomorrow.

Now, he's going to attempt to deliver on Monday.

I called the office to complain. I know they can only tell me so much.

All I ask for us that stupid USPS guy to call me to let me know when he will be coming back to re-deliver.

I will definitely be there personally to sign for the package.

Stupid.

Why am I having problems?

I've had packages delivered to work before. Usually they drop it at the front desk at the receptionist.

Right now, sticking only to FedEx and UPS.
