Dirty South is now the Muddy South

I put that on my Twitter status & Facebook page. Funny but true.

ATL was hit badly. So far, a confirm death count of 9.

Below is a picture of the interstates in Atlanta. Crazy, huh?

Check out the following pictures at Six Flags!!

And guess what, more rain is expected this weekend!

bored

Today is a slow day at work.

It's also boring because I can not acceses the many blogs on Blogger like I used to. I think it has to do with the url being "blogspot" because I can get in "blogger."

When I get home, I always cook and clean up. I log in everything to read up on what I can't log in at work. I join many sites for different reasons. Sometimes, I amaze myself how many I join and keep up with.

Today, I do feel better, walking-wise. However, I am not going to take my walk-breaks yet. Maybe next week, when it's officially a 2-weeks time!

I really do miss working out but I have to watch my portion size. That's what is killing me. I even did some research on what type of exercise stretches would be good for my back and tailbone area. On most sites, I landed on a lot of Yogo activities.

Over the weekend, I finally met a blogger friend in "real" life. She's so sweet. I can see us hanging out more often. We even scheduled for another meetup.

Love meeting people with the same interests as me!

Back @ work & still can't view any blogs & comment but able to post

Thanks for all the well wishes.

I am definitely walking better today. Have a lot of catching up to do at work today, seems like I've been gone for a long time.

Can not stand up or sit down for long periods of time either, have to move around.

My boss advised me to take more time off but I really can't, I get bored easily at home, being helpless and doing nothing.

Sucks now cause at work, I'm not able to view any blogs or post comments to my own blogs. Urgh....

Eating healthier...

I try so hard to try to eat healthier now

For the past week, I've been eating brown rice. It's actually good. I bought brown Jasmine rice and got my kids to try it. They like it! Yah! Success.

I plan to eat fish at least once a week now. Yesterday I made tilapia...sad part is I fried it. Next time I will broil it.

But...I did eat some chocolate cookies I baked! :(

I ate 3 cookies....

Kids with cell phones

Both of my kids have their own cell phones. I don't give *bleep* what anyone says.

We don't have a home phone. We haven't for the past 5 years. It's a lot cheaper that way. It's only $10 for each additional line. Plus I hate the home phone because telemarketers call all the time.

My daughter has had her own cell phone since she was 6-years-old. And my son had it when he was 7-years old. Now, he is 13-years old and she is going to be 10-years-old in a few months.

My son hardly ever uses his cell phone. He is suppose to text or call me when he is at his desination after school. Ditto for my daughter.

However, my daughter uses it to also text one of her BFFs. Girls can text and talk forever on the phone!

In the past few months, my son just recently started to use his cell more often. Mainly for texting. And you know why? He likes a girl!

Yes, he does!

Oh gosh, I'm getting old!

Now, he wants a Blackberry phone. He wants a phone with a full keyboard so it would be easier for him to text.

Oh my goodness.

He is even willing to pay for it. He has saved his birthday and Christmas money.

I'm okay with it.

So we went looking for phones.

He didn't realize how much it cost! So now he is waiting for the contract to end next month. But by then, I will buy it for him. It will be his birthday present.

But he is getting impatient. So who knows.

Even though both of my kids have more things than other kids do, I don't think they are spoiled. They do appreciate what they have and realize that other kids don't have what they have.

"After meeting your kids and seeing other kids, I don't want to have kids"

A month ago, I met up with my Persian friend. I haven't seen her in 3 years!

I missed her so much! She was the one who I would go watch a Bollywood film with and the one who I went to concerts with. We used to go eat Indian food together too. Ever since she started college, she had been really busy and didn't have time to hang out like she used to. But during those 3 years, I finally settled down in the house where I live now.

Over the past year, we've been trying to have lunch together. But it never happened. So finally one day, she called me and told me that we *will* have lunch together. We planned it two-weeks in advance.

When we finally met, it was soooo great to see her! I missed her. I brought my daughter with me too.

As we got our usual dishes from the buffet. She usually get chaat and samosa, while I get tandoori chicken and masala dosa.

We just updated each other on our lives. She will almost be done with college in a few months. I am so proud of her!

We heard this girl whining and crying loudly. She looked around 3- or 4-years old.

My friend gets annoyed easily with younger children. She said to me, "After meeting your kids and seeing other kids, I don't want to have kids"

What? I don't understand.

She corrected herself, "your kids are so good. I don't remember them complaining while we're out, crying, and whining. I want my kids to be good like yours."

Wow! Speechless.

We both promised to not let another 3 years go by without seeing each other.

Get Active Tips

Got this in my inbox because I'm part of the KP Run/Walk. Just thought I'll share them here

What is cross training?
Cross training is an alternative exercise to running or walking. Running and walking can put stress on the calf, hamstring and the Achilles tendon. Although a little stress is good because it strengthens the muscle, cross training allows the muscle time to recover. Good cross training exercises include rowing, swimming and upper body weight training. Try not to do activities that will overly tire the muscles, like stair machines, step aerobics, lower body weight training, power walking and spinning classes.

Should I stretch before a run or walk?
There are essentially two schools of thought about stretching. Some experts say yes, some experts say no. Many injuries are caused by improper stretching - meaning stretching outside your range of motion. If you choose to stretch, be careful not to over extend your muscles. A three-minute walk before picking up the pace at the beginning of a walk or run, and then slowing the pace at the end of a run for a cool down works very well.

I'm cramped for time. How can I find time to exercise?
To maintain your progress, you need to work out at least every other day. If you are cramped for time, try to just exercise in five minute increments. Try a short walk in the morning and a short walk in the evening. Take a break from your computer and walk around the building. If you walk five minutes one day, you'll walk 10 minutes most days.

You still watch Bollywood movies?

Huh-uh, yeah.

On top of that, I watch Tollywood (Telugu) and Kollywood (Tamil) movies too. And guess what, Telugu and Tamil are both languages in India!

And add the other Indian languages -- Bengali, Kanadda, Punjabi, etc.

People still ask me this question till this day! They also ask, "how are you able to watch it?" "Do you understand it?"

There's something called Subtitles. I'm not fluent, if that's what you're asking. I love watching different types of movies.

Other cinema I watch are Korean, Hong Kong, Taiwanese, Filipino, and Japanese, which you could find on my Asian Cinema blog.

Most interesting comments are from Desi people!

They wonder why I, non-Desi, chick would even care to watch their films because even some of them don't even watch them.

Well, that I can not answer. All I know is that I enjoy them. I love the over-the-top masala, the how-many-more songs, bright colors, you name it! Oh! And I love the makeup on the heroines. Oh yeah, the good-looking guys.

Trying to have someone explain what is their passion is hard to do in one post.

But yeah, I still watch Bollywood movies.

It's September, where has 2009 gone?

2009 is going too fast for me. So fast that I can't even remember what I've done in 2009 so far.

Next thing I know, it'll be time for Hmong New Years, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and then 2010! Wow!!!

This year, my son turned 13. He is finally a teenager. My daugher will turn the double digit - 10 in November. Her birthday actually is on Hmong New Years this year.

Inside, I honestly don't feel that much older. Sometimes the kids growing up so quickly do remind me that time has gone by so fast.

One thing for sure is that I still and will always love movies! Definitely one of my all-time passions.
